Extreme weather in Burundi has put the nation's roads at high risk of flooding and landslides. An IDA-supported transport project is helping the country build climate-resilient roads, create jobs and increase access to schools and markets.
Following a decade of conflict, an IDA-funded project provides almost 7,000 former soldiers with resettlement kits, cash transitional subsistence allowances, counseling services, jobs/skills training, and other services to help them begin a new life.
A regional project tackles the environmental challenges facing Lake Victoria, helping to improve the lives of Burundians who depend on its resources. Residents of all five neighboring countries are involved in implementing watershed management and land rehabilitation.
