IDA at Work
An IDA-supported project in eight cities in Tanzania is helping to improve roads, drainage systems, and other basic infrastructure, as well as develop financial systems to allow local governments to fund future improvements and maintenance.
An IDA-supported program has helped Tanzania provide water access to all residents in urban areas and at least 90% of those living in rural areas. Water access reached an additional 8 million people in rural areas.
With technical support from IDA, hundreds of rural water points in Tanzania will soon be powered by solar energy, a more affordable way for rural communities to operate and maintain rural water schemes/systems.
