IDA at Work
An IDA-supported project created better living conditions for 1.4 million people and reduced the number of households vulnerable to flooding by 30%. Local governments also benefited from training and technical assistance that will help boost disaster preparedness.
Through an IDA-supported project, ordinary citizens in Benin identified and implemented development projects to benefit their own communities. The project helped build 2,568 classrooms and 120 health care centers, and increased the autonomy of local governments and women.
A new 50-meter-long footbridge enables faster and safer travel, and helps boost economic activity among 35,000 residents of Sô-Ava’s villages.
