More than 50,000 people in rural Haiti are benefiting from safe drinking water. More than 5,000 students have access to sanitation facilities and a health center at school.
With support from IDA, Kyrgyz farmers began forming Water Users’ Associations to regulate and maintain the water supply. More than 70% of the irrigated land in the Kyrgyz Republic is now covered by these associations.
An IDA-supported program has helped Tanzania provide water access to all residents in urban areas and at least 90% of those living in rural areas. Water access reached an additional 8 million people in rural areas.
