IDA-supported on-farm irrigation projects resulted in 72 water-user associations, covering more than 70% of irrigated land in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Road rehabilitation along Osh-Batken-Isfana road resulted in diversification of local and trans-border trade. Citizens also report drastic reductions in travel time and costs; better access to services such as health care, schools, and markets; and a reduction in dust pollution.
The IDA-supported Disaster Hazard Mitigation Project built a disaster management and response system to monitor natural hazards, detect them, and raise warnings early. About 28,00 people living in an area at risk for landslides now benefit from a water monitoring system.
