IDA at Work
Since 2010, more than 1.7 million people have benefitted from IDA-supported urban infrastructure projects across Kenya. The projects have constructed 60 kilometers of drainage, protecting more than 550,000 residents from periodic flooding.
IDA-supported infrastructure projects have commissioned 280 megawatts in new geothermal capacity -- almost doubling Kenya’s developed capacity -- and connected 2.1 million new customers to the electric grid.
From 2007-2015, an IDA-supported project helped increase the incomes of more than 2 million Kenyans by empowering poor people in rural communities to engage with local governments and identify poverty-fighting projects.
