Thanks to IDA-supported vaccination centers, the province has seen a dramatic decrease in polio cases, from 36 cases in 2011 to just one in 2016 so far, without a single case in 2015. 

Micro-hydroelectric Dams Sustain Life in Rural Communities

Construction of a micro-hydroelectric dam has brought electricity to residents and has provided farmers with sufficient water to irrigate their farms in rural Afghanistan. The dam is one of 8,000 energy projects financed by the National Solidarity Program.


A new bridge has helped transform the lives of more than 2,500 residents in a rural village in Bamyan Province that is divided by a river. The bridge has enabled year-round access basic services and markets on both sides of the river.
